The Loxsmith: A New York Bagel Classic That Needs No Introduction

There are bagel orders, and then there’s the bagel order.

For a lot of New Yorkers, that means nova lox and cream cheese on a fresh bagel with all the classic fixings. It’s salty, creamy, fresh, satisfying, and one of those combinations that has earned its place in New York food history.

At  nosh NY bagels , we call ours the Loxsmith.

What Is Nova Lox?

Lox is one of those foods people often use as a catch-all term, but there are differences between traditional lox and nova-style smoked salmon. At  nosh , we proudly serve Acme nova, bringing another authentic New York favorite to the Lowcountry.

Nova has a silky texture and savory, lightly smoky flavor that pairs perfectly with cream cheese and a chewy New York-style bagel.

Why Bagels and Lox Just Work

Some food combinations don’t need improving. A proper bagel gives you that crusty outside and dense, chewy inside. Cream cheese brings the richness. Nova adds savory flavor. The traditional toppings add freshness and bite.

Put them together and suddenly breakfast feels a little more special.

Although, for the record, we’ll happily eat a Loxsmith for lunch too.

A Taste of Home for Northeastern Transplants

One of our favorite reactions at nosh comes from guests who moved south from New York or New Jersey and spot familiar favorites on the menu.

Real New York bagels. Whitefish salad. Knishes. Babka. Black & white cookies. And yes, nova lox.

Food has a funny way of taking you home for a minute. That’s one of the reasons we care so much about bringing these classics to  Hilton Head Island ,  Ridgeland , Bluffton, Okatie, and the surrounding Lowcountry.

Not a Lox Person Yet?

Maybe you’ve looked at the Loxsmith on the menu a dozen times and stuck with your usual bacon, egg & cheese.

We respect loyalty to The OG.

But eventually, you’ve got to branch out.

If you like smoked salmon, cream cheese, and a great bagel, consider this your sign. Try the Loxsmith and see why bagels and lox have been a New York favorite for generations.

Breakfast and Lunch, Seven Days a Week

You can get your Loxsmith at nosh seven days a week. We open at 6:00 a.m. Monday through Friday and 7:00 a.m. Saturday and Sunday, serving breakfast and lunch throughout the day.

Come see what all the lox fuss is about.
