We're Not a Franchise. We're Just Michael & Jen.
One of the compliments we hear most often at nosh NY bagels is:
"Wait... you're not a franchise?"
We usually smile and say, "Nope. It's just us."
Honestly, we take that as one of the biggest compliments we could receive.
If people think we're part of a big national brand, maybe it means we're doing something right.
But the truth is much simpler.
We're a locally owned, family-run business built from the ground up by two people who had absolutely no business opening a bagel shop...
At least on paper.
From Software to Sandwiches
Before nosh, our careers looked very different.
We spent years in the software industry.
Meetings.
Deadlines.
Product launches.
Computer screens.
It was a great career, but deep down, we wanted something different.
We wanted to build something that brought people together.
A place where families would start their mornings.
Where coworkers would meet over coffee.
Where regulars would walk through the door and be greeted by name.
We wanted to create a place that felt like home.
So we took a leap that many people probably thought was a little crazy.
We left our careers behind and opened a bagel shop.
Betting on Ourselves
Starting a restaurant isn't glamorous.
It's early mornings.
Long days.
Learning as you go.
Celebrating the wins.
Figuring out the setbacks.
And doing it all again tomorrow.
There were plenty of moments when we questioned ourselves.
But every smiling customer, every kind review, every family who made us part of their weekly routine reminded us why we started.
More Than a Business
When you visit nosh, you're not walking into a corporate chain.
You're supporting a small business that pours everything it has into creating a great experience.
You'll often find one of us in the restaurant.
Making sandwiches.
Checking on guests.
Restocking shelves.
Cleaning tables.
Talking with customers.
Sampling new menu ideas.
Or helping wherever we're needed that day.
Because that's what small business owners do.
Why Local Matters
Choosing a locally owned business means your dollars stay in the community.
They help create local jobs.
Support local families.
Sponsor school events.
Give back to nonprofits.
Partner with other local businesses.
And help build a stronger Lowcountry.
We're proud to be part of that.
Every bagel we serve, every sandwich we make, and every catering order we prepare is another opportunity to invest back into the place we now call home.
It's Still Surreal
Sometimes we'll look around the dining room and see families laughing together, kids enjoying their first bagel, friends catching up over coffee, or visitors discovering a taste of New York they didn't expect to find in the Lowcountry.
Those moments never get old.
It's exactly what we hoped nosh would become.
Not just a place to eat.
A place people genuinely enjoy being.
Thank You

And for that, we'll never stop being grateful.
We'll keep showing up early.
We'll keep working hard.
We'll keep trying to make every visit just a little better than the last.
From our family to yours...
Thank you for being part of the nosh story.
Eat Greedy.
